ALLISON’S PERSONAL STORY

I have severe regurgitation. I had to get an endoscopy done last year and I found out I have an open valve in my chest which means my food doesn’t digest properly and I’m stuck with throwing it back up everytime I eat/drink. It was manageable for my whole life. It became my normal. But these last few weeks it’s been kicking my butt. All the foods I’ve once enjoyed now terrify me. I can’t sleep at night most of the time because of my anxiety making me terrified I am going to choke in my sleep because I can feel pieces of food still coming up into my esophagus. The only thing getting me by is reading stories of others with GERD and other gastrointestinal problems. Hopefully we all get through this because life is more than our issues. Or that’s at least what I’m trying to remind myself.
